Parenting in a Construction Zone – Making Sense of the Adolescent Brain
As caregivers, we hope that our young person’s road through life will be smooth and rewarding.  However, experience shows us that the road through adolescence can be full of potholes and detours. This training will introduce you to how brain development leads to choice making for adolescents and provide strategies to help you navigate a world full of environmental influences.  This training space is designed for caregivers seeking to hear from others with shared experience.  Participants are encouraged to bring questions for group discussion.

Objectives:

1. Participants will increase their understanding of adolescent brain development and its impact on decision making.
2. Participants will learn strategies for helping youth navigate relationships, from friendship to dating, by understanding the various components of consent.
3. Participants will be introduced to strategies on how to create a safe space for their adolescent to explore and grow socially and emotionally.
4. Through small and large group discussions, participants will be encouraged to share topics of interest and/or concern for feedback and suggestions.

This is a free VITURAL training held on the zoom platform. No CEUs are offered, certificates of completion will be provided.
